Kayaking is fun, safe, relaxing, and ANYONE can learn!!!

Basic requirements:
- Ability to bend your knees and sit down in the kayak. (Be able to flex knees enough to be in a seated position)
- Ability to hold a kayak paddle (Adaptive techniques available for differently abled people)
Thats it! There are also many adaptive kayak techniques that can be implemented to get just about anyone into and out of our kayaks
What to Expect:
- Total trip time is usually about 3-3.5 hours
- Expect about 45 min to 1 hour onshore, where we'll go through entry and exit instruction, paddling technique, safety, etc
- Then expect about 1.5 - 2.5 hours on the water.
*** These are approximate time frames, every trip is different and catered to YOUR private party!!
What to Wear:
- Water shoes, neoprene booties, sandals, or shoes that can get wet. We won't necessarily need to get in the water, but we might.
- Comfortable, breathable clothes, or a swimsuit.
- Sweater or parka, and rain gear if it may rain.
- Layers, layers, layers. Count on getting hot, and cold. Lightweight layers are the best way to go so you can adjust to your body temperature changes.
What to Bring:
- Kayak, paddle, and a PFD (lifejacket). (Available to rent from Breathing Waters for $35)
- Excited, positive open mind. Remember this is for fun, enjoyment, and learning!!!
- Sun protection: sunglasses, wide brimmed hat, suncreen
- PLENTY of drinking water, and a snack. I usually bring a cliff bar or banana to munch on part way through the paddle.
- Camera with waterproof case. In a pinch, a heavy duty freezer Ziploc bag works just great!!
What about weather, will we go in the rain?
Yes, we can still paddle in the rain. If we do, bring rain gear, a towel for your lap, and layers!! We will only cancel the trip if conditions become unsafe (lightning or excessive wind). Rain checks may be offered on a case by case basis.
